Problem with Radeon 4890 with Sony Bravia HDTV

    Hello,

The problem is that for some reason I cannot get a pixel perfect screen to the Sony Bravia Full HD LCD TV with the Radeon 4890. There are always black borders around the screen.

Have the Catalyst 9.11 Suite for Windows 7 (64 bit) installed.

With a Nvidia 8800gt there is no need for any kind of settings, the picture is pixel perfect HD 1080p straight away.

Any idea how to get the resolution / settings correct?

DO you have HDMI to HDMI connected, and fiber optic cable from the sound card to your home theater receive

Obviously this us the best way but could you tell me what connections are on your TV and computer?

If you don't want to deal with the black boarders, you need to use the PC input on the TV and not the HDMI input. If you need to use an adaptor it should be on the PC then use standard HD-15 TO HD-15 cable from the PC to the TV's PC input.

The black border can be adjusted using the custom resolution setting but there are other problems that go along with that.

Sony insists that you need to use the PC input on the TV in order to have resolution be correct. I just set mine up last week and went through the same routine, resolution not correct when using the HDMI input on the TV.

Everything works perfectly including full surround from the PC through my Sony BD player when playing a movie on the PC. I didn't even need to use any type of SPDIF pass through. I just went from my sound card with the single green wire to the sound port next to the PC input on the TV.

if ure tv doesnt have an option too automaticly fit the picture to right size .
open up ccc /Graphics drop down box/desktop display/right click over the moniter in bottom left hand corner/configure moniter/scaling options / then move the slider till the picture fills the screen
