    HP Win7 Intel 965??

    Hey All,

I have an HP dv2890nr that was pre-installed with Windows Vista August2008. I upgraded to Windows 7 today (finally successfully after using a flash drive, effin' Digital Rivers). Everytime was nice and dandy until I realized Aero was not working. I checked out my graphics card, and it says Standard VGA Graphics Accelerator. I checked HP site, and there are NO updates for drivers. I checked Intel site, got the driver update .exe but it finishes with " Computer does not meet minimum requirements for installing the software. Setup will Exit." VERY FRUSTRATED. Help??

Have you tried downloading the driver to your desktop, unpack if necessary. Stop. Go to device manager right click VGA>update driver software>browse my computer>let me pick>have disk>browse. find the extracted .inf double click it>hit OK reboot if necessary after it installs. This should hopefully force the install of the driver. Also are you using 32 or 64 bit windows? I ask because their is a thread with the 64bit version on it. If your running 64 bit have you tried this driver chipset driver? Fabe http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...18228&lang=eng

You can also find the chipset drivers in the windows update catalog. Just click on the driver, it will add it to your basket>click on view basket>click on download>choose location for download. Hope this will help. Fabe Microsoft Update Catalog

Thanks for replying. I believe I am running the 32-bit version because when attempting to "force aero" (and failing), the files were in the 32bit format. Also, I cannot find this windows update catalog. Nothing is working. I think I'm gonna make the move to Macs pretty soon. I had issues with Vista, now with 7.
