My WEI graphic and gaming graphic score just dropped?

Recently did a reinstall of Windows 7, and ran the assessment. Before the reinstall my graphic score was 7.6, now it dropped to 6.0. Same driver, no new hardware. What can this be?

The graphics card is ATI 4890 1GB, running latest catalyst 9.12

36 views with no reply so I'll step in it. You should take the WEI score with a grain of salt. It has proved time and time again not to be a program to take to seriously. Nobody seems to know why it produces erratic scores it just does. I would suggest using a benchmarking program designed specifically for testing graphic capabilities.

did you install the RTM and was using an older beta version before?

I think the scoring was changed.

    Same problem here

I have the same problem. Didnt notice it for a while. I happened to clear the index because my HDD (which is SSD) was only registering 5.9 (this is because included in the index was my storage D drive). Fixed that ok but dropped my ATI 4890 to 6.0, which is silly when my other PC with a new 512mb 5670 in is scoring 7.0. By the way guys, it does matter what the WEI score is because thats what customers look at when buying. We know its fairly irrelevant but I'm afraid less well knowledgable peeps don't... thus MICROSOFT IF you are going to provide this benchmarking then please endeavour to get it to a relative scale and accurate!! Its clearly an update gone wrong either from ATI or MS, possibly to allow some overhead for FERMI and the current crop of 5xxx series. Its hard to imagine a single 4890 getting 7.0 when 2 or 3 next gen cards in multi GPU set up can only obtain 7.9 max.

Its not irrelevant. If its too low, 7 will switch off Aero. As for games, you need to exceed the WEI score to play properly. Either way, the new drivers are 10.1. Install them and use driver sweeper.

There's some peculiarity in the ATI drivers that can cause the graphics parts of the WEI to drop to 6.0. It happened to me (Core I7 920, HD5870 graphics card).

I tend to run 3D Mark Vantage as a sanity check. I saw no large changes in its values.

Uninstalling the drivers, followed by Driver Sweeper, and re-installing produced no change. However, in the course of trying some of the recent leaked beta drivers, the WEI graphics scores have returned to their previous value (7.8 for both gaming and business desktop).

I've seen no explanation for this flakiness.
