Changing Brightness From PC Rather Than From OSD ?

Hello,

Have a new PC with a LG 21" Monitor. 64 Bit OS. Using the digital input to the monitor from the PC.

Monitor has the OSD menus, activated by buttons on the edge.
A real pain to use.

Forte Manager does not work for some reason.

Was wondering if there are any free or inexpensive third party applications that
would enable one to change, e.g., the brightness of the display directly from
the PC, without having to use the monitor's OSD ?

Haven't played with the ATI Radeon graphics card that the PC has, and their Catalyst Control center. Is it doable from this ? I'm not too anxious to use it to find out, as I had problems with the Catalyst Control Center hanging up the PC in the past.

Thanks,
Bob

Your graphics adapter should allow this, but if you're actually talking of setting the monitors gamma which can govern warmth and richness, you could give this utility some thought... :)

Hi,

Thanks for reply and suggestions.

I dug a little deeper with Google, and came up with the following application:

"Desktop Lighter"

Small, simple, slider that resides on desktop (or Taskbar if pinned there).
Works just fine. Just what I was after.

Take a look at it if you are in the "market" for one.

Regards,
Bob
