Sapphire HD3450 512 AGP DRIVER PROBLEM

I just purchased a Sapphire HD 3450 512mg AGP

I use to have a low profile HP Desktop but I purchased a case and the card today transferred everything into the new case.

Thought everything would run smoothly till I find that Windows 7 (32bit) just will not accept the drivers. Keeps telling me to install the correct drivers then goes and install the VGA standard Drivers. Ive tried uninstalling installing over and over.

Ive downloaded the full driver packages from AMD & Sapphire but still no success.

Computer is p4 3ghz, 1gig ram, 120HDD everything else runs amazingly but not the stupid graphics card.

Starting to get frustrated.

Any assistance would be Fantastic and also stop me punching the living crap out of the computer.

The ATI driver isn't the problem, a lack of a proper AGP driver is. Without a proper AGP driver the driver for the video card either won't install, or will install but the card won't work properly.

While you may have changed the case, it is still an HP computer and the full model number (or the make and model number of the motherboard) of the computer will help us in that we will be able to tell you if it is even possible to get the AGP working on it or not (if the motherboard is NF3 based, you can pretty much forget it).

Also if you haven't seen it yet here is a thread with instructions on how to get the driver installed,

http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-cards/35299-install-agp-drivers-hd-3850-3650-2400-pro.html

P.S. You also need to use the AGP Hotfix driver,

Catalyst AGP Hotfix - Radeon HD 4000 Radeon HD 3000 and Radeon HD 2000 Series AGP products

as the normal driver doesn''t support any of the AGP cards from the HD 2xxx series and up.

HP 085Ch motherboard

The HP rp5xxx PD1068P Computer (HP 085Ch motherboard)

I have already tried both of those suggestions.. that first one suggests using CL_91526 but the update i get from AMD etc is CL_92501 obviously because it is a new update.. and when i try to use CL_91526 it says it accepts that as the driver to be installed but then comes up saying can't find the file path.. Either way that is my motherboard HP 085Ch motherboard hopefully you can suggest something.

Do you know what chipset your MB uses. Cause anything NF# or back will not work. And some Nf4 boardds are iffy. Fabe

You could be looking at the same thing as people with Nvidia NF3 based motherboards in that you won't be able to get an AGP card working properly (or at all) in Windows 7. Here is what Intel has on the download page for the i865/i848p chipsets,

**Important**
The Intel Chipset Device Software does not install drivers for AGP or USB. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS UTILITY IF YOUR DEVICE MANUFACTURER IS RECOMMENDING IT TO CORRECT AN "AGP DRIVER," "AGP GART," OR "USB DRIVER" ISSUE; IT WILL NOT CORRECT YOUR ISSUE.

INF Update Utility - Primarily for Intel® 5, 4, 3, 900 Series Chipsets

One of the fun things about trying to run old unsupported hardware on a new operating system. Unless someone has a better suggestion on how to get it to work I'm going to go with my standard recommendation in situations like this, put Windows 7 away and go back to XP for now until you have a new computer that is compatible with Windows 7.
