hm........ a HD3650, HD4650 or something like that would work without killing your psu but you won't have great graphics either

4670 is an excellent choice of graphics card if you want something just to fill a gap. its a lot better than the 4550 and 4650 and will even play crysis on a decent setup. you will be hampered by that cpu of yours I think though.

the 64 bit bus v the 128 bit bus is probuably the best argument for chosing a mid to low end graphics card. the 64 bit bus is a real bad handicap for any graphics card and it matters not how much ram or how fast the ram is if the bus is restricted to 65bit.

One thing to consider is buying a reasonably good graphics card and using it on your new pc maybe. most shop bought pcs have mediocre graphics often onboard at that. why not buy a reasonable 5 series card like the 5770 as that does not drag an awful lot of power and will help your current pc and your new one? you could even look into buying a pc with cross fire capability as your next pc and buy a second 5770 to give your new pc a serious graphical boost.

    just a thought.

    Hi tesla cuda,

Doesn't spending money on a graphics card now decrease the amount you can spend on your new machine this summer? Since we're only talking about a couple of months, then the money you don't spend now can be used to get yourself a much better card later. You've lasted this long with your current card... and as you say, you're studying right now... so, hit the books buddy!!

A 4550 is useless for gaming. Crysis barely on low.
