These threads seem to be all the same a rip roaring card wars. Plenty of good advice the choice is now yours. I'm thinking if you can wait were going to see some new exciting cards here sooner than we think. Which will mean price dropping.
Yes, once Fermi starts selling, Ati will lower their prices and make the 5000 series look more attractive :)

I'm still seriously considering crossing over to ATI, a 5850 would need 2x 6 pin pci-e connection, my psu supports 12v - Nvidia require more power consumption than Ati.

Want a card I will be happy with and never regret it :)

DirectX 11 will run on a 4890 - its a superset of DirectX 10. You just will not enable all the settings.

Then my main point I was trying to make stands...
Save up for a better card that will play the games you want at the performance levels you expect!
This is the main reason I'm now not happy with mine is it struggles on the W7 operating system playing DX10 games like Crysis with any levels of settings applied & that's without AA applied at all!

So save up some more money & buy a better card. :)
(notice I didn't say anything about a brand this time...LOL)

Bottom line is, if you still can't wait then get the HD 5770.

You have a pc disease which some people may call "Upgrading fever", I also have that disease, the moment I have any amount of money, I have to upgrade something in my pc immediately, even if that upgrade is gonna be 30% cheaper after a couple of weeks..

    We just can't help it.
