    Yes, and then make you wonder why you stuck with those 7600 GS's for so long.

    I think there should be no problem with a 9600 GT. The major change that I see is that the 9600 GT needs a single 6 pin PCI-E power connector, where the 7600 GS cards didn't need any.

    Most cards are sold with a power adapter, in the unlikely event that your PSU doesn't have a PCI-E power cable. I'm not enthusiastic about adapters, but the maximum power through a 6 pin PCI-E connector is 75W. Meltdown is unlikely. I belive that a good 500W PSU should be more than enough for your rig with a 9600 GT. (A single 9600 GT may not draw more power than a pair of 7600GS cards, anyway.)

    The question I can't answer is whether a 9600 GT is a performance upgrade over a pair of 7600 GS cards. (Losing SLI would be an advantage, even if the performance is similar.)

    I always reckon one good card is always best

    if you want to check your PSU minimum requirements try here but remember you need to leave yourself some tolerance for any USB devices you plug in and other upgrades

    No contest, the 9600 will slap the 7600GS (whether they are in LSI or not) silly. Here's a review of the 9600 GT with a single 7600 GS thrown in,

    techPowerUp :: Biostar GeForce 9600 GT 512 MB V9603GT52 Review :: Page 7 / 25

    even in SLI the 7600 GS can't come close to the 9600 GT.

    According to his specs he has the OCZ 500 W, which is more than enough for that card.

    Your CPU is old and will bottleneck games to a degree.
