Just an update on this the issue hasn't come back. So I think its safe to say it was that driver.

There's new drivers up on the developer's page..... 259.09, for those who like to run on the edge.

They're here -
OpenGL 4.1 support. New July 2010

You can check out a discussion of them here. Some mixed feelings about them so far.

I am using a Quadro 2500xm video card however I don't see that type of model listed under the Quadro tree.

What should I do?

i use this driver and have no problems with it even if its unsigned !a few more fps on metro 2033 max out would be great nvidia

Thanks, just installed them, this is the good news. Bad news, rebooted to find a picture of my ex-wife set as desktop, not good, not good at all.
