Almost bought this one today..... might go back to MicroCenter in KC and buy it tomorrow.... what you think?

    Micro Center - Radeon HD 5770 1GB GDDR5 PCIe 2.0 Graphics Card
128-bit memory bus is a bottleneck. If you want DirectX11 go for a 5850, if not a 4890 is still a great card (and the one I bought).
It might be, but while I had one, now it sitting in its box again, but in real life I never noticed anything choking it down. While I don't play Crysis or something else, It was pretty awesome. Ive read the 5770 is on par with the GTX260. I still got the 5850 but that sucker is a little bigger and thats why the 5770 is in the box again. This was with COD MW2. Depending on the game you might have different power.

I was running at everything maxed out with 1920 x 1080. I don't do the mark-vantage stuff so I can give figures for that especially since the 5850 from Sapphire is inside, with some luck.

Well went and picked up the HD5770 today. Uninstalled all the nVidia drivers, installed ATI 10.2 drivers for this card, put it in..... Ran great on the new Battlefield Bad Company 2. Went to launch CoDMW2 and was in a map for about 10 seconds, got a black screen then the monitor said DVI No Input. Restarted my comp and now back to normal. Havn't gotten any TDRs but I just now got some weird crazy lookin messed up textures show up on the taskbar... but they soon went away. Will be testing this alot more

ah, so you went from the gtx 260 to ATI.. no RMA?

The reason I ask is I also have GTX 260.. (no problems yet 9 months ownership/usage). I suposedly have a lifetime RMA, did they refuse your RMA or you just cut your losses?

Also I went to your microcenter link and saw they have no GTX 260's or above almost like they were no longer being manufactured or sold. I would imagine because of the DX 11 thing and the market being broke.

I guess if mine went, I would be in the same boat as you.

The only things I can say are,

The Monitor might have some issues with displaying things, so you might check on another computer with the monitor before you go out spending more money if you can or with another friends.

Do you get blue screens or visually things dont look correct to you? If you get blue screens, maybe you could get the files for the blue screen ( the dump or mini dump files) and someone around here could help out if you posted them.

I've used a LG 20" 1600x900 and got the problems. Recently bought an ASUS 24" 1920x1080 and get the same problems. I posted the minidumps in the original post. But I mean its got to be my mobo I would think, 2 different cards doing the basically same thing, one nVidia one ATI.

The most common problem I have with the 5770 is while trying to play CoD:MW2 it will go to a black screen and my monitor shows no input. This happens about 10-15 seconds within joining a game. Can't CTRL+ALT+DEL or Alt tab or anything, have to hit the reset button to do anything. How common are defective PCIe slots on Gigabyte mobos?

That changes a lot and sorry about the mini-dumps, forgot since this has been going on for awhile and I don't know how to understand the mini-dumps.

Post some new ones since your using a 5770 card just so someone can compare them also.

It could be the motherboard but I would think its the PSU not feeding power to the card more.
I looked up some problems and I came up with this about the drivers and MSE being active while playing games. I guess its happening to some people. Try that also.
Not sure if you have Microsoft Security Essentials. It might be another program thats causing issues.
