To enable aero you need Intel (R) 82945G Express Chipset or Better and to upgrade your Graphic card you need to your Motherboard because i thing you have [Manufacturer] 910 or 915 Motherboard so the only way to enable aero i am sure with that because i had the same problem after i change my motherboard to 945 it works very well.

You can install XP drivers for that chip (you get OpenGL support that way but you won't get Aero). Download XP drivers and run the setup in Windows XP compatibility mode and all should be good.

I have a sony vaio vgn-fj3s/w that i have installed windows 7 on, i cannot for the life of me get anything to run the graphics at all!

i have tried downloading all the different drivers i can from intel etc and running under compatibility mode for both xp sp2 and xp sp3. also tried the vista drivers under vista compatibility mode and every time it gets as far as trying to copy the difxapi.dll file and gives up saying cannot copy, exiting setup.

the sony website provides a driver kit for the original xp install as well but after downloading that there is no setup within the video drivers install files so i can't even use that driver! getting slightly frustrated with it now tbh!

i havent as yet tried using windows update as i'm having similar issue with the wifi card, it won't work either so i'm going to hardwire it tonight and try that but not holding out much hope!

any advice before i go back to xp and accept my decade old o/s fate?!

    thanks

There an INF in that driver from Sony? If so did you try installing it manually through Device Manager?

if i use the manual install inf then surely it wont run in compatibility mode as i need to change the application setup config for compatibility mode and there isnt a setup file!

i'll give it a try though

    cheers

and more tinkering has sorted it fingers crossed, the xp version of the driver installed but when i rebooted it lost it for some reason and reverted to the VGA controller

so i pointed the device manager at the vista version of the driver, again from sony, and it installed correctly and has allowed me brightness adjustment, admitedly only through the intel software, not the Fn key shortcut, but it will do

    cheers folks

    Hello, everybody!

It seems like an old thread, but anyway...

I have laid my hands on an old Fujitsu tablet, running the famous Intel 915GM. I have browsed 7forums in search of information on how to install drivers for the 915GM under Win7. In this thread I found references to Windows Update and information that there is a driver with version 4.10.4764. Maybe I'm completely dumb, but when I searched Windows Update I didn't find that particular driver.

But I managed to install the driver from Intel and now I can get the screen flipped...

Even though it works for me, it would be great to know how I can install the drivers mentioned in this thread. Where can I find them?
