    Catalyst 10.2 Problems

Hey guys, hope you can help me.
I'm running Win 7 Prof. 32-bit on my desktop, and I recently update my ATI HD4800 display drivers to V10.2(latest version available on AMD website)
I updayed the Controle Centre and the drivers.

Its causing my screen resolution to change whenever it feels like it,usally after the screen comes back on after it turned off automatically an I move the mouse, sometimes when I leave my PC on and the monitor goes of after a hour it won't turn on again, I have to press the resent button and my movies also have a jurk in them when I'm using my PC while watching a movie.

Another weird thing is when my PC is on idle, the curser sometimes changes to that running circle which indicates a program is starting but in fact nothing is running.

All sounds very weird but trust me I'm quit freaked out , never had these problems with the earlier driver verions.

Does anyone have the same problems????

Will appreciate any help regarding these issues.

Nope I haven't tried that, but the drivers should be compatable, its been downloaded directly from AMD, god the drivers there after fiselecting my gfx cards and all that jazz....IT MUST work, can there be a fault somewhere else?

    If this is correct,

I'm surprised it boots at all, never mind the resolution changing at random. A 300W power supply is nowhere near enough to run any 4800 series card as well as the rest of the hardware in the system.

    ^^^

Assuming that is incorrect, remove your ATI drivers with DriverSweeper. Redownload them from ATI website and re-install.

My 4850 works fine with 10.2

    HAHAHA....oops...
Got that horribly wrong, my previous "old" rig had the 300watt power supply, did a complete PC upgrade (not myself) and totally forgot about the PSU upgrade that they also replaced...one tends to only notice the "more important" hardware changes....

Ok cool, will try driver sweeper and see how thing turn out...thanx guys

I would argue that the power supply is the most important component in a PC :)

    Hi there.......

do not use ''driver sweeper'' it corrupts GFX driver installs

do not install drivers in ''safe mode'', it simply will not work.

here's what i do with these rubbish drivers.

uninstall GFX driver via ''device manager''..... reboot

head back to desktop & allow windows to generically detect the card (do not install anything) once its detected..... reboot.

head back to the desktop & install the 8.70 Cat version.... reboot.

now upon entering desktop on this run you should be met with Aero & the monitors default res (on both)

this is the best way ive found to install Cat drivers. :), if they still wont install we'll look at other possibilities.
Other than the fact that the procedures dealt with an older driver set, it still works, and is especially useful for dealing with troublesome driver sets.

    Good luck.

You don't need driversweeper. Just go into Catalyst Manager and click uninstall.
