Graphics Card Not Working when BIOS correct

I have just got a new fast AMD motherboard and the PCI-E graphics card is just not being recognized by the motherboard. The primary device is PEG and it is not detected. The built-in GPU works.

May seem like a silly question, but did you connect the power to the card, and make sure it was seated correctly?

It just connects to the PCI slot. It dosen't get external power.

Make and model of both the motherboard and video card would help.

No it isn't, that is unless you know of an AMD motherboard that will work with an Intel CPU.

Can you try that card in another PC or a different PCIe slot? I just recently bought a Geforce 220GT PCIe card and it was DOA. Black screen and my BIOS wouldn't detect it. I didn't have another PC to test it in but the store I bought it at tested it for me and confirmed it was defective. The replacement worked which was a relief for me, I was worried that my motherboard might have been damaged. It only has the one PCIe x16 slot.
