I updated the drivers for my gtx260 and this strange thing has happened and i cannot get rid of it

basically i do the usual, uninstall old drivers, restart, install new drivers, restart and im set.

but now i have this issue where i see 2 nvidia control panels and i cannot get rid of the blank one. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks very much

Same thing happened to me.. I noticed it for a couple days.. I didn't do this with the intention of getting rid of it but I think it got rid of it.. All I did was clean things up with CCleaner and later I noticed it was no longer there.. Again I did not run CCleaner with the intention of getting rid of the extra one but I later noticed it was no longer there...

Yeah, CCleaner will do it.

I ran Ccleaner and the blank version of nvidia control panel is still there.

are there specific sections of Ccleaner i have to tick in order to remove this dead icon from my control panel?

Driver sweeper also works well for cleaning out leftovers. Hope it takes care of it for you.

Edit- Run it in windows safe mode for best results and make sure to uninstall the drivers from add/remove programs in the control panel before running the cleaner
