    Sapphire 4GB '5990' unvieled

Sapphire ready to launch Radeon "HD 5990 4GB" - Bright Side Of News*

Realistically it's just a custom 5970 PCB with Arctic Cooling, but with 2GB usable VRAM and the power of a 5870 in a 'single' card config with OC headroom, it's going to be a monster.

    It's only triple slot too...

HAHA Youll need a 500W Power Supply for that GPU alone.

    Thanks for the link.

    What a combination! Arctic Cooling+Overclock.

Maybe I should RMA my 5970s and upgrade.............

    nice...... :)

though the 5970 has been seen using upwards of 400w with OC, so the extra power isnt really an issue, the fact it has 2gb (usable) VRAM per core is what the 5970 SHOULD of had, b/c its ultimately a crippled card @ very high res as there's just not enough of it... (but it was to be expected, cripple the first revision to ensure sales of the newer one)

i never saw any ''SP'' info (maybe i missed it), it must have more than the 5970 otherwise the 5990 can easily be recreated with a mediocre 5970 OC.

    Nvidia....... are you trembling yet..?

If they aren't trembling, there's probably at least a few nvidia executives swearing

I'd wager the prices of these newer revisions / non-reference (other brands will start to do the same) will be similiar-ish to the 480's.
