I use an old 26" LCD and have no issues - except that as I'm running 1360x768 (native) resolution I can see very slight Pixillation.

check what native resolution you will get from the 30" and preferably try it before you make the swap as usability is a very subjective thing

IDK.. I have a 37 I use some times but it's on the wall about 6 feet away and a foot upwards from my viewing position.. I don't know if I would want anything too large as primary but 30 may be okay.. Try it out, if you can tune it in to where the large screen doesn't hurt your eyes to be so close then stick with it

Barman 58 as usuaI has offered great insite. I don't think I would go as large as 30. Trust me it's going to be a lot of screen really close. Now remember what your Mom said about sitting to close to the TV. LOL. Fabe

Me too, a Samsung SyncMaster 2494 is awesome, and 24" is really the largest i can recommend for near-viewing. Any bigger than that, and you'll have to move your head when looking at diffirent points on the screen, which is harmful.

Don't forget that jumping to a 30 inch is going to place a much greater demand on your video card. With a GT 250, that's something to think about; increases in resolution mean decreases on graphics settings.

If nothing else you can use it as a second screen.. If he's willing to give you a 30 for your 17 viewsonic just pick up another 17 off your local craigslist for 60 bucks used and trade him that one.. A 30 is well worth 60 bucks even if you only use it on occasion

Even if that option doesn't seem viable take the 30 eitherway and throw it on ebay... Can probably sell it for enough to cover a 24
