    GPU hot


    my gpu is at 66 how can i cool it here is the temp

    First you should check the mfr. Can you pull the video card and blow it out with canned air?

    i take it that temp is ''idle'', if so its pretty toasty

    are you using ''Rivatuner'' or ''MSI Afterburner'' to alter card fan speeds..??

    what is your cable management like inside the case, you'd be amazed at how much heat a few wires will add to a card if they hamper airflow..

    right.... so your saying you dont use 3rd party software to alter the fan speed on the 8800.

    download one of these...

    Rivatuner

    MSI Afterburner

    & adjust the fan speed accordingly......

    However, realize that GPUs do run a lot hotter than CPUs in general.

    You need to check the manufacturers specs for the chip. My 8800 GTX ran at 72C idle and 95+ under load. It had a high temp clock trip at 117C or something...

    i downloaded MSI Afterburner temp fell by from 67 to 59 also on this app what settings are safe to change and if i close the app does the settings still applie because msi uses a good bit of memory
