Laptop video problems - what to do? I am having intermittent issues with my new laptop. I have e-mailed HP and they will "fix" it....but it would take 2 weeks and if it does not happen while they have it....I'm afraid it will not be fixed. Would an HP tech just turn it on, see that it seems to work fine at the time, and send it back? I have already tried ALL drivers, prevented overheating, and cleaned all air intake. What would you do? This happens about once every two days or so. I have to restart and it's gone.. | My System Specs |

Nate, knowing a bit about HP's service practices I would recommend you to print that pic and send / give it with the laptop taped on its cover. Keep a copy to yourself, too, so when they call to tell you there's nothing wrong you can in worst case fax them a copy.
Let's hope they'll fix it!

I would just like to offer a suggestion that you make sure and let them know that the system has to be run for sometime for this to occur. So maybe they will take the time to run it long enough to reproduce the issue. Plus it is a great idea suggested by Kari to send a picture of the screen along with detailed explination of how long it takes at times to occur. I WILL send the picture with the laptop. I didn't even think of that! ALso, since my warranty is good for 10 more months....I wonder if there is ANY way this is a driver issue. It sure looks like hardware to me, but I don't know for SURE. Maybe I should wait. I have had it on ALL day playing HD video trying to make it happen. It HAS NOT happened today. Unbelievable. Thanks for the suggestions. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Keeps changing - (Custom) OS Windows 7 Professional x64 CPU Intel Core i7 860 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-P55-UD4P Memory 4GB DDR3 Mushkin 1600Mhz @ 7-8-7-20 Graphics Card MSI GTS250 1GB DDR3 Twin Frozr Sound Card Onboard realtek Monitor(s) Displays Samsung SyncMaster 24" P2450 + Samsung 20" 2033 Screen Resolution 1920 X 1080 and 1600 X 900 (#2 system 1440 X 900) Keyboard Gigabyte USB keyboard Mouse Microsoft wireless laser mouse 5000 PSU Corsair 750 HX Modular Case Lancool PC-K62 Cooling Cooler Master TX3 CPU cooler and 4-140mm and 1-120mm case Hard Drives Patriot Inferno 120GB SSD + 3 WD Blue 640GB drives Internet Speed 7 Mb down 1.5 up Other Info System #2: AMD Phenom II X6 1055T (Freezer 7 Pro cooler) - Gigabyte 880GMA-UD2H - WD 500GB Black - 9500GT (1GB) 500W OCZ modular PSU - Antec 200 case.
