    Problems with my resolution

    Hey everyone.
I recently bought a new computer and everything is perfect but my resolution, I've a 24 LCD monitor and the resolution I get recommended is 1920x1200 but I don't really like it seems to be smaller to the sides. My problem is that whenever I change to the resolution I was using on my previous comp which was 1920x1080 some black borders appear on the top and bottom of the screen and the over scan option of my monitor is greyed out, is there anyway to fix the resolution?
Also something else that has to do with my internet connection, it says I am connected to "network 2", what does this means? I thought it had to say connected to "local area connection".

Overscan will "zoom in" so if you were able to use it, you would not only remove the black bars, but the edges of your screen as well, which you wouldn't want.

Use your monitor at its native resolution for best results, or the next 16:10 resolution down, 1680x1050.

I know that the native resolution would be the best to use but like I said I don't like it. So I'm asking if theres anyway to use the resolution I want to but with out those black borders if no, then I guess I'll have to get use to it.
