    9600GT upgrade to GTX 275

    Hi, hopefully someone can direct me in the right direction.

    I am thinking of upgrading my store bought pc, it currently has a 9600gt graphics card in it, and I would like to upgrade it to a GTX 275, so I have 2 questions.

    Is this card considrably better than my current one?
    Also,
    What information do I need to make sure everything is compatable in my pc, as to not fry something?

    any help is greatly appreciated? Ty.

    That's a polite way of putting it,

    Well if everything here is correct,

    a new power supply and case. A 400W power supply is pushing it at best for the 275, and there is no way it will fit in the stock µATX case.

    Mmm, it could well fit as I have a µATX case and I've managed to fit a 9800gtx in and if the details on nvidia site are correct then a gtx275 is the same length as a 9800gtx.

    Just get a tape measure out and measure the variables

    275 details;
    Height 4.376 in
    Length 10.5 in
    Dual slot.

    It will also be considerably better as everything will be maxed out instead of medium/max.

    The GTX 275 is a pretty big performance increase over the 9600GT. Its got almost double the power. Just as mentioned above make sure you have a good PSU so you don't under power the card.
