$499 US for a 480... after currency conversion and re-sellers adding their mark up, plus the initial supply will outweigh demand - that equates to ouch in AUS dollars.

true but you can pack all you want into a card..... how it will preform is a different thing
Exactly, ATI have proved that enough times
Just throwing it out there, I'm not just taking a jab at ATI, I mean it in the way of what Intel did with the Pentium 4 and just kept ramping up the speed of it thinking that'll make it better.
hm.... we'll see even then if it is a little faster than the 5870..... it took them six extra months to get there

Even if it turns out to be a hot, noisy, over priced power hungry SOB - if it's faster than a 5870, then that's all that will really count.

Once the 470 / 480 are widely available - 6 months will not only be irrelevant, but easily forgiven.

I'm just glad that there's a light at the end of this speculation tunnel.

Hell, I'm already impatient to see what's in store for the inevitable revisions and newer models from both camps...

It's still not as bad as what was predicted. Places were saying $600+ for the 480 last month. The 470 has a nice price, though. Depending whats what next month, the 470 will probably be the one I'll go for, then add a second one later in the year.

As everyone has said, the price isn't bad at all, I'll probably go for the 470 also.

If you don't like Nvidia, why do you just keep coming in every Nvidia thread with one liners like that?

Now that the canadian $ is almost at parity with the USA ones, I'm happy.

Online shopping is even more fun :)

That's one of the other reasons I'm going for the 470 apart from price. It looks considerably smaller and I don't want to risk getting a 480 only to have it not fit lol.
