GeForce GTX 480 and GTX 470 specs finally exposed

hm.... ok so now nvidia has the fastest single card.... wonder how long that will last
If history is anything to go by, awhile.
Leading up to this, it reminded me of the 4870 vs 285. Now that we've finally started to get some real world testing, it's proving how history is repeating.
The 4870 was the fastest single GPU until the hotter and more expensive 285 came along and delivered similar max / avg frame rate improvements over the 4870 just as the 480 has over the 5870.
You knew these cards were going to be hot when we saw actual holes in the PCB - but 95c? That's pretty bloody warm :) As for the power usage...
According to those benches, the minimum frame rates of the 470/480 are far better than the ATI cards. That's very promising.
You can see the 470 is going to become the 'new 5850' as the common preferred 'budget' performer recommendation.
Exciting, expensive and tempting times are ahead

The main problem like I said is cooling for people, if you can cool it, you might as well get it, otherwise.

How much are these going to cost?

hm.. but if your about to spend $500 you might as well push up to the 5970 and get the cooler card with the better preform.... and if ati cuts prices... hm.... dang i need some money

5970's are $700.00-$800.00.

I have not seen them anywhere in Canada to Order, are they officially out I know this has been asked but I read a link here that states that Fermi has a lot of problems and that by Spring 2011 they will have perfected this chip.
I was going to maybe buy this card but it appears that unless someone has some other information, I may have to go with a 9xxx series card.

They should start popping up in around a week or two hopefully.

That is what I wanted to know :) Thanx
