    Graphic Cards » Hp zd8000

Welcome to the Windows 7 problem club. I have Win 7 x64 installed , and it will not install ATI Mobility Radeon X600 on this model. You will need to restart in safe mode, go to Control Panel>System>Device Manager> Display Adapter then in the Driver dialogue box click Update driver.

Windows 7 will automatically install a substitute driver. Mine is a VGA, and although it displays, it does so at the wrong resolution. Graphics are spread.

I have not been able to find a resolution (forgive the pun) to the problem (along with no sound) but if you do, please post it here.

HP have no intention of updating either the display adapter or the sound controller.
Apparently our beautiful zd8000 are considered redundant.

Andrew, thank you for your link. I have had no success at all with 64 bit. I downloaded the v8 for 64 bit, but zd mobility Radeon was not listed among the driver options at all.

Thanks to your tip off I noticed that the version 10 for laptops had been released. I tried this, but it didn't apply to the ATI mobility Radeon X600 either.

The trouble is, ATI told me that this driver was made specifically for HP so ATI don't update it!!!

A RealTek guy has offered to look at this as soon as I get someone to open up my laptop and read the number of the Audio chip that he requested.

If I have any success with this you will be the first one to know. You will hear my Eureka! (and the sound system) from Australia to wherever you are.

I too had my laptop upgraded with more memory and more RAM only 12 months ago, so I am not exactly wrapped either. It is a beaut laptop, and I would hate to lose it.

This planned redundancy of computers is designed to make us buy new ones. Well, guess what? My next one won't be an HP. My loyalty to that company has disappeared.
