new driver compilation

hi, guys
i too have ati radeon 9250 pci 128 mb card
sure the xddm drivers work
but there is no opengl support
you can play games only in d3d support
cannot play halflife-1, counter strike, related games

so i decided to compile my own drivers
finally i got it to work
a mixture of xddm and 6.11 catalyst worked
here is the driver download link
install using the graphic properties
link below:
MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

i have tried this out myself
its working totally fine
all games supported by graphics card playable
not tried for other than 9250.
reply if other cards work.
ask if any problems encountered.

ps:roperties won't show anything about amount of shared memory
or other things which are below

windows 7 rocks!!!
add rep if u liked

I've tried your mixed driver on an ATI Radeon 8500LE with 64MB but am not very happy with it. I tried Furmark but get no OpenGL support. However, that may be because it expects OpenGL 2.0 and later.

I then tried using glview312 from realtech VR and here the situation isn't much better. The driver reports that it supports OpenGL 1.3 but once you send it though its paces, it dies ungracefully.

Start with rendering tests and you'll get "some errors have occurred during rendering tests". Actually no test completes as you can see FPS are 0 everywhere.

Here we already see that the driver seems incomplete.

If I run the test at a lower resolution (1024*768, 8bit 60Hz) then the rendering test starts but ends up with an unhandled exception because it read or wrote to protected memory, i.e. somewhere in lala land, again indicating a mismatch.

At this point, I'd stay away from this driver. Thanks a lot though for your diligent work.

my friend regli,
u are testing a driver which is not completely recognized by windows.
complete identification will show the amount of ram used etc...
u can check out in properties that the windows doesn't recognize any ram shared as like ur posted drivers.
these drivers are just an improvement over ur posted ones.
i assume that glview software takes info from the system.
if it is so then u can also see that it shows adapter ram as 0MB
when the windows itself doesn't have any info about the card how will glview run the rendering tests.
try running some ogl games on ur drivers and on mine u will note the difference.
and thanks for the tests friend. now i have some more research to do!!!!!!
i am able to run counter strike in opengl mode in (my monitor's) highest resolution of 1024*768 in 32 bit which the xddm drivers fail to even load the game and go to software mode

1st of all...

Very nice work mr. regli, now my Radeon 9250 has 1440 x 900 res in Windows-7 rc1.

Thank you !

There is a problem however: windows 7 update hangs on updating The Cumulative Security Update for ActiveX Killbits...

I suspect it has something to do with the installed 'not Windows 7 certified' Radeon driver.

look here: Download Windows 7 ActiveX Killbits - Cumulative security update - Softpedia

any way to solve this ?

edit: don't know if it has something to do with the diaplay driver, but windows-7 rc1 blew up my mbr twice, so definitely something wrong !

Thanks for your detailed post. Just wanted to let you know that same driver worked for me on my Mobility Radeon 9000 IGP on an old Toshiba laptop.

Much, much appreciated!
I am having trouble getting this driver working on a Radeon Mobility 9000 IGP on a Toshiba Satellite P10 laptop. After a reboot, Device Manager shows the adapter to be functioning properly, but it only allows 8-color 640x480 mode, no other resolutions are allowed. I have a feeling this is because I am using this laptop with an external monitor as the laptop screen died a while ago (dead inverter)... so perhaps these custom drivers are only for the laptop's LCD screen and not an external LCD monitor...? Does your laptop work with an external LCD/CRT monitor?

Anyone else have any thoughts or ideas as to how I can get this working?

Oh and btw, Windows 7 identifies and installs the adapter as a 9600/9700 video adapter straight from microsofts driver catalog, but it does not work (obviously) and shows a yellow triangle/exclamation mark in device manager for the adapter with the MS supplied 9600/9700 driver...

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Are you certain that you have an IGP 9000 in your system? Some P10s even had Nvidia FX Go 5100s.

The fact that you only get 640*480 points to the fact that Win 7 reverts to the good old standard VGA. When you right click the desktop and choose resolution, do you get more choices?

The key IMO is to get more details on your system. There were many P10 models. What is the full model number, i.e. P10-S429?

Toshiba Satellite P10 PSP16C-05EE1.

I've taken the whole laptop apart yesterday and I'm 99% sure it said Radeon 9000 inside on the chip, but the toshiba canada website lists only "ATI Mobility Radeon 9700" driver downloads so it must be a 9700 I guess??? Chip Type shown in Windows 7 is ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9700 AGP (0x4E50). 400MHz DAC, 64mb.

The Vista Radeon 9700 drivers from the AMD website do not seem to work. The 9700 XP drivers from Toshiba Canada, although they do install, result in a bluescreen upon boot, unless I F8 boot into 640x480 mode, but as soon as I try to change the res it crashes again.

The XP drivers from Toshiba that do not seem to work are: hXXp://209.167.114.38/support/Download/files_Downloads/PSP16C/SP16BXDP.exe

No blue screens, no yellow triangle ! in device manager, but it boots into Windows at 640x480x16 colors at "Default" refresh rate and there are no other resolutions allowed.

I am using an external 19" 1280x1024 Dell LCD monitor in case it matters.

Perhaps we're getting closer? Thanks for your help!

trafsta,
which monitor driver is being used?
is it still in generic monitor?
try updating monitor drivers if you have.
