No boot after DirectX update
I updated my Windows 7 64bit nuild 7100 with the web installer and got Aug 2009 update.
then I rebooted and my computer wouldn't POST.
I had the clear CMOS.
Anyone know wtf that was?

It is not the RC that is the problem. There are still a good deal of us here on the forums that are using the RC release without any problems.
To make the statement, "stop running RC Software when Retail is out," is just out of place.
Doesn't RC expire next year sometime, like in February or March? No reason to "force" someone to purchase Win 7 yet when Microsoft themselves do not. From a purely technical standpoint only, fine then.
It expires in March, or it starts shutting down every two hours in March and will no longer work in April, if memory serves me (sometimes it just goes out the door my memory can at times be a major problem). :)

well it is what it is.
there's nothing wrong with the system, after re-entering my BIOS settings it's fine.
It was directly related to the DIRECTX update, I don't know how or why.
This NEVER happened before, so somethings askew, maybe someone with similar hardware/OS could try the web installer and update to AUG2009 and see what happens.
I heard the RC was better than the retail....on this forum.
I will update, for now Windows 7 kicks ASS.
super stable
It's just a bug somewhere, probably in the drivers who knows.
I didn't say anything about a DVD.
