Nvidia or ATI? I'm thinking of upgrading my Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT. I am unsure whether to go with Nvidia or ATI. I have an ASUS P5B-VM mobo. | My System Specs |

For the most part it's a matter of brand loyalty and preference.
Otherwise it comes down to price for performance, which both AMD and Nvidia are currently about matched for.
Though I'd suggest ATI if you're looking the the mid-range, cheap high performing market. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Zen Productions OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel i7-860 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD4P Memory Corsair Dominator 1600Mhz, 8-8-8-24 1.65v 2x2GB Graphics Card ATI Radeon 5770 HD Sound Card Intel High Definition Sound Monitor(s) Displays Samsung P2570HD Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech G110 Mouse Logitech MX Revolution PSU Corsair CMPSU-750HX 750W Case Antec p183 Cooling Corsair H50 Water Cooler Hard Drives Western Digital Caviar Black 500gb Internet Speed 768 mb/s |

Not this again....
It is all personal preference.
I have a N260GTX Twin Frozr and love it.
However, the HD5770 would have been a better model for the price. (I had issues with drivers)
If you are looking at the 5770/260 priced cards, go ATI.
Other than that, it is all preference.

Like what's been said, it's all personal preference really and how much you want to spend. A simple upgrade for a decent price would be ATI, but if you do upgrade to one of the newer cards, your current CPU is going to hold it back if you're wanting to play games or something. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Built OS Windows 7 Professional x64 Service Pack 1 CPU Intel Core i7 920 3.2GHz Motherboard ASUS Sabertooth x58 Memory 6GB XMS3 Corsair 1333MHz Graphics Card Zotac Nvidia Geforce GTX470 Sound Card ASUS Xonar DX/XD 7.1 Monitor(s) Displays Dell 24" S2409W + Dell 20" E207WFP Screen Resolution 1920x1080 + 1680x1050 Keyboard Logitech G11 Keyboard Mouse Logitech G5 Laser Mouse (2007 edition) PSU Corsair HX850 modular Case Coolermaster 690II Advanced Nvidia Edition Cooling Corsair H60 Hard Drives 1x 120GB OCZ Vertex 2E, 1x 750GB Western Digital Caviar Black, 1x 1TB Western Digital Caviar Green Internet Speed 16Mbps Other Info LG Blu-Ray player |

you can find GTX 260s for sub 200 all day, some around 150... Having said that, my progression was 8600gt Sli to GTX 260 to Radeon 5850, and the ATI card is 10000x the card the others are, especially being able to use 3 monitors. I do prefer nvidia control panel to Catalyst controller though.
I'm not a ''gamer'' per say, but I do play mw2 and mlb2k10 occasionally. | My System Specs | | OS 7600x64 ultimate, not SP1 CPU i7 930 Motherboard Gigabye X58A-ud5 Memory 12gb ddr3 1600 triple channel Corsair XMS3 Graphics Card Radeon 5850 1gb OC edition Sound Card Asus Xonar Essence STX Monitor(s) Displays Acer 24'', Dell 23'' display port Screen Resolution 1920x1200, 1920x1080 Keyboard logitech 2.4ghz wireless wave something Mouse logitech laser wireless mouse.
