GeForce 8800GTS: wierd effects after playing Far Cry 2 It doesn't happen every time I go on it, but this is actually the first time it's happened outside of the game; before, after a while of playing Far Cry 2, I sometimes get some strange texture effects - eg. the sky starts flickering or something.
But this time when it happened (I usually turn off FC2 and restart it to 'fix' the effects), I turned FC2 off, and it was affecting explorer now.
Could my graphics card[s] be on its way out? My computer's only 3 years old. | My System Specs |

Hi Gaz1701 and welcome to Windows 7 Forums
Have you overclocked your graphics card? If so, try reverting back to standard speed. If you don't play Farcry 2 at all after booting up do these effects not appear at all?

That could be overheating. How long have had this video card. You might need to blow the dust out. I clean the dust out of my computer every 3-4 weeks and I decided to take the fan shroud off my video card and thoroughly blow out the dust. It actually cooled down by 1-2 degrees. Could be memory problem too. I had a 8800GTX that started doing this in Crysis. Then it started doing it everywhere. I now have a 275GTX. If you start seeing weirdness anywhere else you might want to start checking out new video cards. This would be an indication that death is near for your video card. Good luck. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Intel OS Windows 7 Ulti x64 CPU QX6700 Motherboard 975XBX2 Memory 6G Corsair DDR2 6400 Graphics Card Nvidia GTX 470 Monitor(s) Displays BenQ 24/Princeton 19 Screen Resolution 1920X1200/1280X1024 Keyboard MS Natural 4000 Mouse Kensington Expert Ball PSU Rosewill 950W Case Thermaltake Cooling Koolance Exos 2.5 Hard Drives 4X500G 4X1TB 2x2TB Esata Internet Speed DSL |
