I believe you would get better performance from the 260. The 448 bit will give a substantial advantage when gaming at higher resolutions.

However the 5770 is more bang for the buck i think, and like said before, its more future proof as far as supported technology goes.

Thanks for the replys guys. Much appreciated!, After more reading online i have ordered the XFX HD5770. Even tho the GTX260 has a 448bit memory bus & the HD5770 has only 128bit. The GDDR5 on the ATI will make that up against the GDDR3 the Nvidia card has. Plus the ATI has faster clocks, more ram & has direct x 11. That should be way more than enough for what i need it for. My screen is only a 1440 x 900 monitor so i wont be playing at high res anyways. Well not yet lol.

    Cheers peeps.

Yeah, at that resolution you'll be playing nearly 60FPS on most games anyways.

Let us know how you get on with it bud.

I was considering getting a gtx 260 in the next couple of weeks but after continuing my search stumbled across the HD5770 , same one you have just ordered infact , and I am now seriously considering that instead.

    Cheers

    Will do paul bud. :)

I know this is probably a silly question but i've read about Amps on the 12v rails & graphics cards. My psu is just a standard one from ebay. The readings from the side are...

    +5v 38A MAX
    +3.3v 35A MAX
    +12v1 18A MAX
    +12v2 21A MAX
    -12v 0.3A MAX
    +5/USB 2.0A MAX

Im just wondering if that will be fine. Its a 750w

More than good enough. I'm running a HD 4830 (with similar power requirements as the 5770) on a similar spec'ed Antec Earthwatts 500W with n problems.

Cheers stormy. I was just confused a bit when i saw online abour 40a on 12v rails etc lol. At least thats one worry off my mind. Just hoping the drivers are ok on my setup. Seen a bit of bad press about cards crashing during gaming & stuff.

a 5770 is the same power as a 4850 - 4870 I think? I will like others say go dx11. Nvidia may have their big fancy GTX480, but they fail by having no other dx11 cards. I have talked to some major nvidia fanboys, but to be honest, I am unsure of any of them buying a 480 just for DX11. 800USD for a dx11 card, or 400 for a 5850? You decide! Seriously, go 5770.

Ok, well if you have any issues with games being laggy or bad performance, its a known issue that the game probably does not support crossfire, or not supported well, in which case you may have to disable one card. I can not tell you how many topics on steam people are like "performance worse in crossfirex". Just a heads up.
