Advice on a new Graphics Card Requested. Good Day all,
Time I believe to pump up the visuals on my system.
The manufacturers installed card is an :- NVIDIA GeForce 7300 SE/7200 GS
Having tinkered about in the last few weeks with a few games, Blazing Angels 2, Far Cry and a few other odds and ends, I thought that things were just a touch on the limit so to speak. So would anyone care to advise on an upgrade?
A few hours on the Googly place have left me quite bemused as to what is what these days. I'd have about £100 to spend, with a little more if it was really worth it.
Full system specs on my profile if you need additional info.
Thanks for reading,
All the best,
Mick C.

I would get the 5750 (has DX 11). I had a GTS 250 1gb, and while a very nice card, the 5750 is more future proof. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell XPS 9000 OS Win 7 64 CPU i7-920 2.66 Memory 12gb DDR3 1066 Graphics Card Vision Tek Radeon 5850 Sound Card RealTek Monitor(s) Displays 21.5" and 60" HDTV Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard MSFT Mouse MSFT Blue Track PSU 475W Hard Drives 750gb Internet Speed DSL System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Built/ Built by me, CR-48 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU INTEL CORE I5 750 180x20 all powersaving 1.168v Motherboard MSI P55-GD55 Memory OCZ 4GB DDR3 PC3-10666 (7-7-7-20-2t) @1.651v Graphics Card ASUS 9800GT GLACIATOR FANSINK Sound Card ONBOARD REALTEK ALC889 Monitor(s) Displays VIEWSONIC VX924, VIZIO VS420LF1A Screen Resolution VX924: 1280x1024 75hz, VS420LF1A: 1920x1080 60hz(1080p) Keyboard Logitech K520 Mouse LOGITECH M310 PSU OCZ MODXSTREAM PRO 700 WATT SEMI-MODULAR Case ANTEC 900 Cooling CoolerMaster Hyper 212+ Hard Drives HITACHI Deskstar HD31000 IDK/7K 1TB 7200RPM 32MB CACHE SATA II Internet Speed CHARTER PIPELINE 15MB DOWN/ 3MB UP Other Info ROUTER: DLINK DIR-655, Netgear WNR3500L (SamKnows)

I am kinda looking for a new vid card too, but am skeptical of the ATI lineup with so many problems with them. BSoD, GSoD, driver stopped responding..etc. But most seem to be from too low of core & mem speeds at idle, is there anything else wrong? I know there is a tweak to up the speeds, but I am still skeptical about getting an ATI. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Asus V2-M3M8200 Barebones OS Windows 7 Professional x64 CPU AMD Phenom X3 8650 Motherboard V2-M3M8200 (basically a M3N78-VM) Memory 4x1024mb Kingston HyperX DDR2-1066 KHX8500D2/1G Graphics Card Asus GTS 450 OC Sound Card Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium PCIe Monitor(s) Displays Asus 24" LCD VH242H Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Dell USB mini Multimedia Mouse Logitech MX518 PSU Antec Earthwatts EA-430D Case Asus V2-M3M8200 Cooling 120mm side fan & 80mm front & 92mm rear fan Hard Drives WDC WD5000AAKS

It depends . . . I, personally, do not think it is reasonable to consider the gfx card in a vacuum. For example, what is the native resolution of your monitor(s)? Are you one who thinks bigger is better? Consider this article.
I have to agree with Kurahk7: I think it best if you figure out your needs based on your existing system (CPU, PSU, RAM, cooling), anticipated upgrades, and primary usage. Also, any chance of SLI or XFire in your future?
First challenge: ATi or NVIDIA.
Good luck,

Good luck,
Monk ive already considered his needs based on his existing system , he has 100 quid , not 1000 , there is no option for sli or xfire without a major upgrade , its simple , he has 100 pounds and he wants faster performance | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom OS Win 7 Home Premium 64 Bit CPU Intel Q9550 @ 3.83 / Titan Fenir Motherboard XFX 780i Memory 4GB OCZ PC2-8500C5 DDR2 Graphics Card 2 x Gainward GTX260/216 SLI Sound Card Creative X-FI Xtreme Gamer Monitor(s) Displays Dell UltraSharp 2209WA 22" Screen Resolution 1680x1050 Keyboard Razer Reclusa Mouse Logitech G5 Gamer PSU OCZ Modstream 700w Case Cooler Master CM Storm Scout Cooling Titan Fenir Hard Drives western digital raptor 10000rpm sata Internet Speed 8mb |
