How do I update my DirectX 8.1 to an updated version ?

I have a NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX400 64MB Graphic Card.

Start>Search type dxdiag> click to run... this will tell you what version you have, since it's Windows 7, you will have DX11, but your card can't support that.

To update to the best version your card is capable of:
Download details: DirectX End-User Runtime

If memory serves me correct, doesn't that card only support DX7? No matter what, you can't benefit from a higher version, card is "hardware locked".

That card will support DirectX 9. Use the download link Sanvean provided, or the complete installer package can be downloaded here:

Download DirectX 9.0c (full package) - the latest version of Direct X

Sanvean's link will be easier as it will not require you to direct where the files need to be installed. A Guy

This is a rather strange thread. I wonder what "Keonetics" wants to accomplish.

If Keonetics has Windows 7 installed, he (she/it) has DirectX 11, whether he wants it or not. (I believe that some of the older DX components aren't included in Windows 7, so theer may be some point to installing the full DX package from Microsoft.)

However, a Geforce2 MX only supports DX7 in hardware. Aero Glass effects won't be available with any drivers. 64 MB is also not supposed to be sufficient to support Aero Glass. nVidia didn't develop Vista or Windows 7 drivers for the Geforce 2 MX. The basic data sheet for the 2 MX at www.nvidia.com is copyrighted 2002.

It may be possible to get workable (XP?) drivers under Windows 7, but full support won't be possible. Windows 7 is entirely usable (in my opinion) without the cool Aero stuff, but I'm not sure that I see the point in installing a new OS on an old machine.
