Hi, I posted this on the Catalyst forums, but that place is useless, so here it is, slightly reworded:
"I have a weird problem - I own a Sapphire HD4870X2 which has been working fine for a very long time, however ever since I switched to a CRT monitor again I am forced to use PowerStrip to manage my refresh rate at 80 Hz (which is the optimal refresh rate between no flicker and excellent text readability - the Windows default of 85 Hz makes things a bit fuzzy). However, this works fine when Catalyst A.I. is disabled, but since the 4870X2 is actually two display adapters in one, enabling it seems to cause problems and it's as if the forced refresh rate is only applying to one core and the other is still trying to drive the monitor at whatever the Windows default is, so basically I get all kinds of thick grey / noisy flickering lines going vertically over the screen at high speeds and I can't see anything. It doesn't matter if I set the refresh rate with or without Catalyst A.I. enabled, and I can't configure the second adapter specifically. I'm sure this is the problem because if I disable PowerStrip, this doesn't happen, as well as if I disable Catalyst A.I. This has been going on for about 2-3
driver releases ( I haven't had the monitor prior to this - but I assume it has been like this much longer then ) What to do to fix it? Thanks."
Maybe someone can help me out here, I am basically forced to use half the performance of my card because of this annoying issue.
