Anyone with a HD 5850 run a test on Passmark performance test?

    Hi Guys,

Just recently got a Powercolor HD 5850 gpu , and have ran a test on the latest Passmark performance test benchmarking software.

It seems about right on the 3d score with around 2200

But the 2d score is very low at around 320

    Is this normal?

Just want to make sure everything is running right with it.

A friend has an Nvidia gtx 275 and its scores like over 900 on the 2d section!

I thought the 2 cards would be pretty much the same if not the HD 5850 being slightly better.

Proberly just me being fussy , but like I say I want to make sure all is right with it , otherwise its going back lol.

    Cheers

    Paul.

I just ran the 64-bit version of this:
    3D overall 2425.5
    2D overall 369.2

    **edit**

I don't think I like this benchmark. I recently installed the June DirectX redist, so I'm up to date. This thing wanted to, and did install it's own "updated" DirectX files, which I found odd. After I ran the benchmark, I played a little Bad Company 2... had my very first crash to desktop... ever.

Coincidence? Perhaps, but I uninstalled this pos and re-ran the June redist anyway.

Thanks for testing it out Fumz.

Looks like my card is not massively down then.

Interesting about the direct X , not had any crashes on games myself after installing the passmark program , but have only played cod 4 for 20 mins.

    Cheers

Just to get back to you on this Fumz ,

I got a new motherboard and overclocked my cpu from 2.5 to 3.1 per core and it had a good effect on the GPU , it must have been bottlenecking it.

Check the screenshot below for my latest scores , bear in mind I ran the 2d test with aero switched off which makes a big difference to the score , with it on I now score between 370-380.

But the 3d score is with aero on so happy days.

Amazing what a little overclocking to the cpu can do eh!

    Cheers

    Paul.

Read my post #20 on 2D performance with links to Tom's Hardware. It seems there was a fix in 10.4 version of driver.

Looking for a Graphics Card recommendation

Hi Jim , cheers for the info , I only got the card about a month or so ago , I have the latest drivers on it at the moment 10.6 iirc , so I assume I don't need to do anything more?

In the first article I believe there is a link to Tom's 2D test program. You can try it and see how it looks against his tests.
