Hey guys. I'm using Asus A52J with a dedicated graphic memory of 1024. I was wondering how to change the dedicated graphic memory. I've been into the BiOS but still no luck. Where can I change it? Any clues?
Which A52J? There is 4 different version of it; A52JB, A52JC, A52JK, A52Jr.
Dedicated usually means that the ram (also known as vram) is on the video card and as such cannot be changed, unlike if it was shared from system memory.
owh i see. I wanted to lowered my dedicated graphic memory to 512 because my laptop lags when playing Grand Theft Auto 4 EFLC while on my brother's laptop it works fine. As far as i can see my laptop is more powerful than his.
Comes back to which A52J is it, and which CPU does it have in it? This is from one of them,

From what I know of that game is that it doesn't want to run well on the best of systems, and the last thing you want to be doing is lowering anything. What settings are you running it at?
I dont know which type because it only stated A52J.But this is my spec:
Core i3 2.27 GHz
ATI HD 5145 1GB
2GB DDR3 ram
Windows Home Premium
I ran the game on the lowest settings but still it lags. On my brother's laptop on the other hand ran smoothly on low settings.
Ok, first, you have 2gb of ram, why did you ask about adding more ram to 512mb.
secondly, from what i can tell, that is not the best of cards to be playing the game on.
Thirdly, even the processor may cause issues as the i3 is not intended for games.
Is your brothers laptop the exact same as yours and spec.

I didn't meant to add ram but to reduce my dedicated graphic memory from 1024 to 512.
Nope, my brother's laptop is acer studio 1435, 3GB DDR2, ATI Radeon HD3450, Intel Core2 Duo 2.00 GHz. And his laptop only use 256mb Dedicated Graphic Memory.
Ok, I was mistaken. But why lower dedicated vram, you'll want as much vram as possible. But again, like i said that graphics card is just not aimed at gaming.
I can see why your brothers laptop will run, because it has a Core 2 Duo 2.00ghz, the graphics are aimed at gaming even though it wont do higher settings on most of today's games.
I'm afraid you will need to spend some money and upgrade that laptop or take the intiative and buy a desktop PC and for the money an 'OK' laptop will buy, you can have quite a decent PC and still have your laptop for all other things.
Those are the breaks I am afraid.
If anyone has better ideas than me, then please post, otherwise, thats all i have on the matter.

Those are the odds then. I just bought this laptop actually 4 days ago and I thought that this laptop is powerful because of the specs. But then I was wrong. I hope this laptop could do well on other games, I hope.
