resolution has gone to hell...

hey all,

i have an asus M3A78-EM motherboard with an ATI Radeon HD 3200 integrated graphics card, and am looking at a Westinghouse L1975NW monitor. after having the computer shut down for a week i fired it up and now my resolution is set at 1024x768. windows recognized the monitor as generic non-pnp also. i've updated the graphics card driver to the most recent and the monitor is still not recognized. i can increase the resolution, however, 1440x900 is not listed in the drop-down list and that is what my monitor is supposed to be capable of. this leads me to believe that something is still wrong. what could have happened? these big blurry letters are killin' my eyes!

thanks
wes

have you unchecked the "hide modes this monitor cannot support" checkbox in the resolutions section of your driver cp?

sorry mate i didnt realise you didnt know hat the issue was , you need to install the drivers and/or the colour profile for your monitor that way your gpu drivers will recognise it and offer up the correct res's and frequencies , most monitors your drivers will pick up anyway some it wont , my dell for example needs the drivers installed or i cant set my freq to 75hz

Im having trouble finding a website for your monotor mate , did it come with a disk?

i can help with the installation of colour profiles etc if you can find em

Pick either one of the above resolutions and see if it looks correct. Windows Update may have updated your resolutions or the video driver did. The above may look better than what you were using before. Let us know.

nothing will look better than the monitors default res and choosing 1600x960 will give him an "out of range" black screen error which he may or may not have to boot into safemode to rectify

Forcing Screen Resolution Higher Than Native Resolution
Hi. I'm new here and this is my first post. I looked around a little and found one other thread with a similar question, but the question wasn't really answered. I can't find anything on the net that doesn't confuse me so bad it makes my head hurt, so I thought I'd try asking here. Thanks in...

I have a Sceptre 32-Inch LCD TV (X322BV) and I use an ASUS GeForce 440 video card. I am connected to the TV using a top of the line HDMI cable that has ethernet built in. I was using this cable to connect my computer to the TV and it displayed fine at 1360x768. This was great for my games and all...

I'm going hell, I know it!
Just spent half a day getting rid of Vundo.H trojan on a PC at work. No virus scans run for 8+ months. IE temp folder took 3 minutes to empty. After a half dozen scans with NOD32, MalwareBytes, and MS MRT I stopped getting an infection warning. Had our outside gurus take it anyway and pull the HD...

What the Hell is MS Doing?
I just read (on Winsupersite.com) that the pre order/upgrades will NOT have a clean install option. This is outrageous. Does MS have no clue as to the goodwill re Win 7 has garnered them but how something exactly like this could destroy that? I have personally suggested to @ least 50 people to...
