ATI Catalyst Control Panel (where it is)?

    Hi,
I own a ASUS PCI-E Video card with the Radeon x1950 chip. In Vista I use Catalyst version 9.3 and got the ATI control panel up and running.
In Win7 x64 RC the card works fine even with two flatscreens connected.
But I miss the ATI Control Panel allowing me to fine tune the displays?
I did not install and wasn't offered to install when using the last software.

Actually I use a driver dated 10.03.2009, version 8.56.1.13, digitally signed by Microsoft. But I have installed 8.612 from Drivers & Tools | GAME.AMD.COM

Did anyone here have experiences with that problem?

    Thanks in Advance

The Catalyst 9.4 bundle is available from AMD here; Graphics Drivers & Software but I'm almost certain you HAVE to install as Admin in order for them to install properly.

    I tried out Catalyst 9.4 - But x1950 isn't supported.

I tried out (as Administrator) to install all 3 packages of Catalyst 9.4 which are availble from the download side. But no success to install a driver. It seems that Version x1950 is not supported by version 9.4!

Is there any other sources for older ATI chips (the card is now aged 3 years, works well in Vista).

I am not willing to throw away all the "Designed for Windows Vista" Hardware and replace it by "Deigned for Windows 7" Hardware - Possibly the next cycle of transferring to garbage starts in spring 2011 with "Designed for Windows 8.5 RC2".

    Best regards, Oblomow

Have you tried installing Catalyst 9.3 in Seven? Would like to know if that works for you 'cause if it does, I'll do the same.

I share your concerns. I have an ATI 1600 card and am not about to shell out $100 for a new card just to run ATI drivers in Seven..

Cat 9.1 is the one you want. Recent ones don't work for anything pre HD2xxx.

    Here.

Results of trying to install Catalyst 9.3 on x1950

I tried out to install Catalyst 9.3 x64 on Win7 x64 RC on my machine with a Radeon x1950 card.
As a result the ATI installer installed sucessfully (need for uninstalling) and also the ATI control panel. But that control panel did not work with the x1950 driver included in Win7 RC.
    So I did an uninstall.
The driver is a little bit buggy, I got some a zombie rectangular area on my desktop, run as administrator which did not go away. Annoying ....
As I understand the Radeon's x1xxx cards have been transferred to a so called legacy area - No more proprietary drivers for Linux and just every 3 month a new relelease - Next one i caluculate will be 9.6. I did not read anything on Win7 support.
There is a adequate priced successor on the market, the x4770, but I am not sure whether I should buy any other ATI card due to a lack in supporting Windows 8 and beyond.
I expect full driver support during the guarantee period which is 3 years in Europe and my Radeon x1950 is just aged 2 years and one to two months.

You will need to install CCC 9.3, which is now a legacy driver. Pre HD2400 video cards are no longer being supported for Windows 7. See the following for installation.
