    nOOb ATI user

When it comes to tweaking and monitoring ATI cards, which is the best program to use. With my Nvidia cards, I always used Speedfan and Rivatunrer/EVGA Precision.
Any tips for the HD5670 1G card?

    Thanks in advance,
    Thorn

i simply love ati tray tools.

    • Hardware low level color correction

    • System wide Hot Keys. (Load profiles any profiles/work with colors/run any application)
    • Refresh Lock system with ability to set separate refresh rates for each resolution.
    • Tweak for overriding Pixel and Vertex Shaders
    • Speed improvement tweaks for Anisotropic/Trilinear Filtering. Support for Catalyst A.I.
    • Support for system options, VPU Recover, DMA Copy and so on

I use MSI Afterburner with Kombuster on my 4870 CrossFireX setup in my Alienware M17x and MSI Afterburner, Catalyst Control Center and CPU-z and GPU-z on the XFX HD5870 xxx Edition in the desktop, the old laptop uses Speedfan as that works very well on it, I also have Ati Tray Tools that I play around with.

For monitoring, lots of members here use GPU-Z.
    For tweaking, use ATITool.

It's been a while since I used ATI tray Tools, but it's pretty good.

Like FNB, I also use MSI AB for clocks/voltage + CCC for other things and GPU-Z for full monitoring.

As for tips - don't overvolt it (if it has an adjustable voltage chip).

For the 5xxx series, it's recommended that the 'max safe' voltage is 1.1625 - although the designer of the 5870 mentioned it can go up to 1.1825 before degradation occurs, provided the cooling is adequate.

Well try both the end result (your clocks) will end up the same but each tool handles things a bit differently and each card takes things differently. Another thing I do is make a restoration point clearly marked as a Non Issue Restore Point, this helps me identify rather quickly where I had a clean, problem free, running system. A good thing to have when something like the latest updates from MS have given me a black screen so now I have turned off automatic updates and will do them one at a time to find the culprit.

for speed of your fan use speed fan

for overclocking afterburner is your best bet coupled with ATI tray tools for testing the overclock.
