ATI HD 6000 Series GPU's

It seems ATI have more cards on the way in the near future.

“We are expecting the new ATI Radeon HD 6000-series to be announced later this year, around Q4 2010. After which, we will be releasing our own Radeon HD 6000-series early next year,” said Kenny Chow, a senior marketing officer at HIS

Hmmm....looks like my waiting may pay off. I was on the fench as to whether to upgrade my 4890 or wait and see what's next on the horizon as the 5000 series seems to have issues.

That was a given. I am already screaming along with my Radeon HD 5850 that I got the day it was released. I generally upgrade maybe every 2-3 years at most. My Radeon X1900XT lasted me over 3 years.

I can always keep hope alive. Who knows, they may be so successful that I let my guard down and actually buy into that nightmare they call Crossfire :eek:

I have a Radeon HD 5850. I haven't had a single problem with it and I got it when it was released.

Interesting.

Im in the same boat. My HD4890 still runs everything perfectly fine at high settings so havent been in any rush to upgrade it just yet, but considering with new PC build soon.

Might be worth considering.

Yeah other than missing DX11, though I have no DX11 titles yet, my 4890 is doing rather well itself.

BTW haven't seen you around in awhile. Hows that motherboard holding up?

Just with tons of things to do, I waited untill the last minute to call my cable company. bad Idea. Got to new house and had to wait a week with no NET or Cable

Board is doing wonderful all previous issues are gone now.. Still looking forward to the new i7 system

My HD4850 is starting to show it's age on some newer titles. I also find it hard to play games below 1080, after seeing it's hard to go back. I was saving for a 5870. Hopefully if these new 6 series cards do drop the 5 series will take a big price hit then I'll jump on board. I just want a good card, not bothered if it's a series behind or whatever.

This is just typical, ATI are still leading the way this year.

I really think Nvidia need to get their butts into gear as each day i am more and more inclined to go ATI and, still, they are cheaper.

@ Wishmaster... Happy to hear all is well. I know you'll enjoy that i7 system once you get it up and running. I'm lovin mine. Also happy to hear the old board is still holding up.

@ kylehimself.... what games? is your 4890 showing it's age in??? I don't think there's a game out today that the card has problems with, even though it's not DX11.

@ Luckystar.... even though I've never owned an nivida anything, I'm quite sure they're doing just fine with their newest releases, mainly the 470 & 480. They're not ready to roll over yet.

it's a 4850. Even compared to my friends PowerColor 4850 it doesn't preform as good, it came in my machine and I've never really looked in to it. Perhaps it's the lower end of 4850's.

How much better would a 4890 be over a 50? Would it be worth picking one up on Ebay just to tie me over till the 5xxx series drop in price?

True, but does hit home a bit. Especially when ATI have a 2 Gig card and nvidia has'nt yet.

I will just have to keep saving for that 480, just wish it had at least the same amount VRAM i have now with my 275.

I'm content with my 5770 / 5750 X-fire combo. Plus, it's still too new for me to consider upgrading. Prior to this combo, I was running two 4870s X-fired. The only reason I rid myself of the 4870s was because I wanted cooler cards with less of a power requirement. Other than that, I would still be running the 4870s.

Read a review Tomshardware on the Nvidia 460 preformace and specs look pretty good still a little pricy though.Fabe

i'm another 4890 owner, and i'm starting to feel its age - the time when i could run every game maxed out @1920x1080 are now over - for example bfbc2. :cry:

one of the best things about series 6 is that it'll bring down the price of 5xxx.

as i'm currently pretty broke, this is great news!

The 4890 is a better card then the 4850, how much better... that depends. As for upgrading to the 4890 or getting a 5000 series card. I would probably go with a 5000 series card, especially since your moving from a 4850. My main reason would be DX11.
