    IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers

Two questions. First, what are they?

Second, is it normal to have 3 ATA Channel 0 and 3 ATA Channel 1? I only have one hard drive.

Yes it is normal, depending on your system.

All ATA Controllers (SATA and PATA) will have ATA channels.

For me two are the Intel SATA controller for my SATA drives.
Two are for the IDE devices, DVD-ROM's
Two are for my other add-on SATA controller.

While in the device manager, select the View tab and select devices by connection. This gives a better view of what connects to what.
