    HP Printers (or others?)

    Hello

Does anyone have the problems I used to have with ordering/receiving ink cartridges? I have a HP Photosmart C5380 and had lots of orders which resulted in cart's that simply were wrong for the printer; too big for the carrier slot, etc. I found that, for example, the Photo Black came in several different varieties, some of which were made for the same print engine fitted to another model.

Eventually, I went to the HP website and determined the EXACT cart's for my needs, noting the short generic code as well as the HP code. In my case, the Photo Black is usually 364XL (generic code, large capacity) and CB3222EE (Hp Code).

Then I made a small graphic to show the colours and 2 codes, printed and lightly taped it to the top of the printer. Graphic is attached: it is a MS Word 97-2003 doc, as I created it in OOffice and converted it. Hope this helps others with same problems!

Never had the problem. I get mine from a local store, Wal*Mart, Staples, Office Depot, etc. It is easier to use the HP short code too. There is no way to tell where a refilled cart comes from, if that is what you're using. The supplier should replace wrong ones.
If they don't fit, then they are the wrong ones.

    Deacon:
I order from Cartridge King usually, but I shop around first, comparing CK's price to others. Sometimes Amazon or E Buyer are cheaper, but not often as CK are in Guernsey and thus pay no VAT.

Staples are more expensive than almost anyone here in UK - and I have a Discount Card with them.
My point was that it is very easy to order the wrong cart HERE in the UK, due to several printers using the same engine. So I ensured that I have a record which will give me the right result first time, every time.

I do not use refilled or remanufactured cart's, I only use genuine HP. I have had HP printers for many years and have never had one fail me, using gen cart's. Previous was a big old CP 1700, an A3+ beast that I used in my design & print business, supplying business stationery, entertainment packs, brochures and prospectus books for independent schools. I like HP quality.
