If it's fixed I recommend using express burn and also install express rip, they worked perfectly, especially when burning ISO files. And doesn't windows 7 already have a built in burner? '~'

Can you try some other CD/DVD and let us know if the issue persists?

I believe the media you are trying to read is corrupt.
I agree, try putting in a different disk.

Just a thought - check the manufacturer's site support for a firmware update.
I was having an issue with a LiteON optical reading certain +R media. Seems the drive would try to see the disk as -/+RW, then lock up. Well their site didn't have anything but firmwareHQ did. Seems to have solved the problem.
