Windows 7: COM1 port once available for Visor Prism is now not ...

Hi!

My Handspring Prism was working fine with my Win 7 until recently. Now, every time I try to sync it, I get a "The selected port, COM1, is not available at this time. Hotsync manager will open the port when it becomes available." My Device Manager won't tell me what is using COM1 and says everything is working fine. In addition I switched the Prism's USB plug with the one for my USB hub--still have the same problem. Now I have Microsoft Virtual PC on my 'puter, but I have no idea how to install the Prism driver/software on it. And if the COM1 port is blocked, well.... Thanks to anyone who can help--this has been right frustrating!!

What if you try to open the application as Administrator? Some system resources may not be fully allocated while in our regular "power user" accounts.

If you just right click on the application and click "Run as administrator".

Thanks! I hate to sound so dumb, but I've only been working in Win 7 for a few months now, and that's been mostly to net surf, write, and add nifty gadgets to my desktop. I'll give it a shot later tonight, and let you know how it goes.
