firewire issues with windows 7

am having difficulties uploading images to my pc using a sandisk firewire card reader....

1) the upload is very slow...max speed 20 mb/s...usually slower.
2) often hangs
3) files get corrupted in the process (jpeg or canon raw).
4)my os is windows 7 64 home premium.

seems others have experienced similar issues, but have not noticed a definitive solution posted. can anyone help?

tia

Are any drivers required for your hardware, i.e. did the manufacturer provide a driver disk with the hardware?

thank you for your response. no, i do not recall any installation disk. the card reader was purchased last year and was used on a pc that had xp sp2... the new pc...the one which is giving all the problems... has windows 7 64bit home premium. I have searched on both sandisk's and microsoft's websites for a driver...and could not find one.
