It's pretty normal for that to happen. Most boards power the USB connectors even after shutdown. It's usually done so that the mouse or keyboard can wake the computer from sleep.
There are a number of ways to "cure" this problem. The easiest is to turn off the power bar that the computer is connected to, assuming you have one. Some older motherboards have a shunt, or jumper, somewhere on the board to allow USB devices to be constantly powered, or not. You can also try the BIOS and set your wake by USB settings to off, but you won't be able to wake the computer by mouse or keyboard anymore.
My ASUS motherboard has jumpers to set the mode. I like being able to just click a button on my trackball to turn on my PC.
Oh ok thanks. Is there any risk of shorting out if its left on!bios has resume of to power up pc!but light still stays on ,,im not to clued up on jumpers.
i av mw 2 sniper mouse so i have a huge green glow in my room at night.I can flick my psu switch of but i fear it could short it or damage it if i keep turning the psu off by the switch?
Is this correct > gigabyte ga_7pvm.shs rev 2.0 ? I can't find it on the Gigabyte site? There are some ga-73pvm listed.
yes there is that one a rev 2.0 !its on there i use it to get updates for drivers and stuff for the mobo!
I unticked the box in devices mouse properties and now the light goes of.
Thanks for the help
OK, if you're happy with the solution posted I don't need to look it up anyway.
