    Corrupted HDD?

    Hello,

Basically, my power tripped the other day when my PC was running - i turned it back on and it seems that it wont get past the windows screen - in safe mode it wont get the classpnp.sys and can't boot the installation disk because it doesn't get pas the loading screen.

I took the HDD out and the installation disk suddenly loads - something seems to have corrupted on the Windows installation - but, i can't run the repair utility on it because while it's on the computer, nothing will boot very far.

Not really sure where to go with this? How do i "repair" the HDD?

    Thanks,
    Andy

Interesting problem to say the least.

I would try unplugging the power cable to the HDD, booting into the installation disk, and then plug the HDD back in. Then run the startup repair.

    Hello,

So, managed to put the HDD back in (with another HDD that works with windows installed) - resumed from hibernation with the corrupted drive plugged in - in Windows, i'm only seeing C:\, and F:\ (System Reserved) and no actual data patition on that drive - Opening Windows Disk Management just loads and loads. Any ideas how to fix this while i've got the drive in?

    Thanks
