Both DVD drives not burning

I upgraded to windows 7 a few months ago, after having XP for years with practically no problems, and have only recently needed to burn onto blank DVDs and no matter whether I'm using DVD-R or DVD-RW, neither work. I've tried the usual of trying different disks from the same pack along with others out of different packs and no luck. As far as I'm aware my drivers and everything else are up to date. The error that keeps appearing is either that the disk is unreadable or it not being detected at all.

What also adds mystery to this problem is that the drives will burn to CD-R and this is using the same software as I've tried for the DVDs (I have also tried other software and the exact same result of CDs good, DVDs bad). Also I can read all disks perfectly too

Have tried a variety of softwares, just to name a few; WMP, iTunes, the one that windows has when it gives you the option to burn in the window (don't know the name as you can tell), movavi suite 8 & DVD videosoft.

As you can see have had a look at a few… :)

Still no luck, it came up with the same error message that the computer keeps coming up with of there being no disk or no blank disk inserted :(

Before I go through with that one, is there anyway of only uninstalling sections of a program as if I were to uninstall something like iTunes, like most people I'd loose a lot. So is there a way to maybe just disable the programs using Revo??

Also have done a driver scan using a program called Driver Boost and found that the drivers are supposedly out of date. As much as I'd love to pay the money to fix it as well for me, I thought I should be able to manually search for it. Although, I'm having no luck after spending a few hours googling. The one I'm looking for is:

IDE ATA/ATAPI cintrollers for Intel 82801G (ICH7 family) Ultra ATA storage controllers - 27DF

As to how much of that description is irrelevant I don't know

hazer,
Stay away from those driver detection/update programs.

Since you have an ASUS motherboard,
Go to their website and fetch the latest win 7 drivers for their board;
also, make sure that the bios is up-to-date.

There is no such thing as a partial uninstall. If you purchases the software, then you receive a key/registration code or the likes thereof. If you've lost it, then nearly all software companies are excellent record keepers and you will be in their list of registered owners.

Remember KISS-keep it simple stupid. Don't go installing software willy-nilly.

Let's get a solid foundation then you can, before installing any software, make a system image backup so that you can always get back to that point.

First let's get a solid system, then we can go further.

If the problem lies in some setting in a program that has been installed since installing windows 7, you may be able to fix it by deleting the related folders in users/[your account name]/appdata/local and ../appdata/roaming. You'll have to make sure any background apps or services related to those programs are not running when you do it, but the effect is that it returns most applications to their original settings, as if they had just been installed

As long as he uses RevoUninstaller, then he will have a clean removal.
I should have mentioned to him to choose the "Advanced" mode.

Hazer,
When using RevoUninstaller, choose the "advanced" setting. I thought we had a tutorial on RevoUninstaller but I've not found it. RevoUninstaller is a big favorite of many of the guys helping you.
