    Helping Friends make computer need help!


    So im helping my friends make a computer and we finished wiring everything. we tryed to turn on the computer but the screen showed nothing... we did hear a bang the first time we turned it on and smelled some smoke, the next time we turned it on nothing happened, no bang, no smoke. is this a discharge or is it some other problem? If it is discharge what can we do if not what can we do?


    Specs.
    Motherboard: msi 890gxm-g65
    Ram: kingston value ram 4gb
    PSU: Corsair 430W
    Graphic Card: Raedon 4290
    Audio: On board
    HDD:500 Black Caviar WD
    Arctic Cooling Fan Freeze 64

    BTW the proccesor is a AMD Black Phenom II x4 3.2 ghz

    Uh....a bang and some smoke. Seriously, it sounds like you friend the power supply or the motherboard.

    Hi illway, by the sounds of things , you wired something incorrectly , chances are you may be lucky and only the fuse in the psu as blown before any major damage has been done,
    recheck all the wiring and connections ,make sure everything is in its right orientation

    I dont think its a PSU problem cuz we could still turn it on and the fans still worked.. I think it might be a video problem cuz i cant see anything on the mobo

    have a close look at the mobo,look for any signs of blown caps etc , do you have another graphic card or access to one to try ? you could have fried the mobo

    we dont have another graphic card sadly... um brown caps i didnt see any...

    BLOWN as in burnt out or bulging on the top , when you turn on the pc do you get any post beeps ?

    so we found a black square on the mobo that was chipped prob. the problem

    it makes 1 beep when we turn it on
