    Transfer Cables


    Running W-7 X64 Enterprise, which to Transfer Files from my XP PC . Can I just use USB cable or do I need special Transfer Cables?

    Need more info. Are you transferring just data or are you looking to import XP and dual boot. Are both the same version (32bit or 64bit)?

    Look for the Easy Transfer Cable under Win7 Help & Support.

    Microsoft claims that you can't use an ordinary USB cable.

    Have a 32 bit XP, and I wish to transfer Movies either in the .rar format or Video Farmat[ .avi,RMVB...

    You'd need a USB bridge cable:

    Connecting Two PCs Using a USB-USB Cable | Hardware Secrets

    They don't seem to be readily available (based on not finding them at Newegg).

    It might be more practical to use an Ethernet connection. (Two Ethernet cables plus a hub.)

    I would not spend money on transfer cables when you can buy a external usb drive for less than fifty bucks. You can then transfer your files to your new pc. And you would have a useful device to use later on for something like back up or simply more storage for data.

    I have many External USB Drives, but I really want to transfer directly from [[b] 32 Biy XP machine to the X64,W-7 Enterprise.
