    help: cannot reformat c drive

So, I've got Windows 7 RC1 installed on my D drive, and now my C drive which has XP installed on it, has a virus. I need to reformat it, but when I try to "Right Click -> Format" windows won't let me / won't do it.

    Thanks in advance.

Please post a full screenshot of disk management screen, within computer management, so we can help. The system files that your computer boots from are probably on C and we will have to move them in order to do what you'd like.

And not for nothing, I'd scan the heck out of your 7 partition. If XP has some malware, good chances it found its way to there as well.

The XP partition won't format because that's the boot partition. 7 installed its own boot loader over XP's but still on the XP partition. You'll need to set your 7 partition as active and bootable and then probably run a repair on 7 in order to restore the bootloader to the correct partition.

If you plan on reinstalling XP, just do that and then repair 7 to restore the bootloader.
