Agh what a mess this process was! so i got the 1.5 tb drive, i partitioned it to 2 drives, and dumped all the stuff from my old hd to the second side of the partition. Backed up the image on another hard drive. and i tried to restore the image, but it is said i had to delete all partition on the new drive before it can restore the image, I spent all that time backing everything up, so i said screw it and just installed a fresh copy of windows. For future reference, there's no way to restore the image on the drive without touching the other partitions?

    thanks.

I don't think you could have restored the image with the drive partitioned, but clean installs usually go well, so you a probably better off. Since your HDD was failing, you might have had corrupted system files or other corrupted files. This would limit the problem to only your data files.
