You seem to be doing this out of order. When I build a new system I first select the Motherboard and CPU then get the RAM and GPU. Then I can get the correct PSU and drives that will work with that board. But that's just me.

I have built more then 100 pc's over time and I think Ken is right on.

Also, unless you read a benchmark online you will have to piece them together and cross your fingers for a post beep. If you don't post then you have your work cut out.

I would say it really depends on the motherboard and getting a bad stick of RAM. A bad stick of RAM can confuse you into believing that both the motherboard and ram are bad !-) amongst other things.

My best experience in pieceing together a system is when I used all SLI approved hardware and case.

Dave is absolutely right, this should be a nice setup.

Don't put too much weight on whether or not a specific model number is on the board manufacturers approved list. Technically DDR3 is DDR3 and not manufacturer specific. As long as you're purchasing familiar and proven brands like Corsair, GSkill, Crucial and so on, you won't have any problems.

Too many times the recommended list is really a "buddy" list... Good luck with the build.
